Open the video or post, tap Share, and choose Hearthfall (if you don't see it, scroll the share row to the end and tap More). Hearthfall opens a review screen where you can fix anything before saving. You can also paste a link: Meals tab, Add recipe from a link, then Get recipe. Pasting a link into the Home ask bar does the same.

Hearthfall reads only the public caption of a post (or a recipe page's own recipe data). Many creators put the full recipe elsewhere ("full recipe in bio") or only say it in the video. When that happens, Hearthfall shows a friendly hint and empty fields. You can type the rest in, or use voice dictation while the video plays.

Yes. On the review screen, tap the microphone and speak the ingredients and steps as you watch. Hearthfall turns your words into text using your iPhone's built-in speech recognition, and you can edit everything before saving.

First add your Google account to the iPhone: Settings, then Apps, then Calendar, then Calendar Accounts, then Add Account, then Google (keep Calendars switched on). Then in Hearthfall's Family tab, tap Connect Google Calendar and allow calendar access. Choose which calendars to show next to your family plans, and which Google calendar new Hearthfall events are saved to (or choose "Don't save"). It is two-way: events you add in Hearthfall appear in the Google Calendar app and on calendar.google.com within a few minutes, and changes made there show up in Hearthfall. iCloud and work calendars work the same way. If you declined access earlier, turn it on in Settings, then Hearthfall.

Your data lives only on your phone, so back it up before switching phones or deleting the app. Family tab, Export backup creates a file you can save to Files, iCloud Drive or send to yourself. To restore, install Hearthfall on the new phone, then Family tab, Import backup, and pick the file. Importing replaces what is currently in the app.

Family tab, Erase all data removes everything Hearthfall stores, including your ask history. Clear ask history removes only what you typed or said into the ask bar. Deleting the app from your phone also deletes everything, since nothing is stored anywhere else. There is no account to close.

Lay the receipt flat in good light, fill the frame, and keep it sharp and straight. Long receipts work best if you smooth out the creases. Scanning happens on your phone and the photo isn't uploaded. You always get a review screen to check names and prices, and Type prices instead is there if a scan struggles.

The mic needs two permissions: Microphone and Speech Recognition. If you tapped "Don't Allow", open iPhone Settings, then Hearthfall, and turn both on. If speech recognition is unavailable on your device or language, you can still type, or use the microphone on the keyboard.

They're optional. Price lookups for Kroger and Walmart only work if you add your own free developer keys in the Family tab; without them, Hearthfall still builds your grocery list and works with prices you save from receipts or type in.

Yes. In Notes & to-dos, copy a note from Keep and tap Paste from Keep. To go the other way, tap Send to Keep on a note.

Hearthfall sizes every recipe for the people eating, so you cook the right amount and don't end up with leftovers. Adults count as a full portion and kids count by age, using the birthdays in your family profile; babies under one are left out (baby food or milk). Recipe amounts and the shopping list are scaled to match, and you can tap Show original amounts on a recipe to see it as written. Lunch is planned as its own meal each day; if you would rather cook extra on purpose for lunches, choose Leftovers in your meal style.

Tap the heart or thumbs-up on meals you love, and say or type plain-language requests such as "meatless Monday" or "eating out Friday". If you ate out instead of cooking, tell Hearthfall (for example "we ate out tonight"). It asks which of that dinner's groceries you still have and keeps them in your pantry so they get used, not wasted.
